My thoughts on the NeoBux Changes

Ya know, I really don’t spend a lot of time hanging out in forums. I’ll occasionally pop in to GetPaidForum or whatever forum is provided with whatever program I’m using. To be honest though, there’s this whole “not enough time in the day” thing going on with me right now, so “hanging out” anywhere is not something I’m doing much of these days.

Anyways. I did happen to glance at the NeoBux forum a couple weeks ago when the admin announced a few changes. I read a few pages of concerned comments and then moved on to something more productive. Sheesh, you’d think it was the end of the world.

If I remember correctly the big change was the loss of admin ad’s for standard ( non ungraded ) members. This would explain why my earnings dropped a couple dollars per day.

I think another big change involved rental rates or terms or something. Since I don’t mess with renting referrals on ANY site, I’m not affected.

So what are my thoughts on the changes over at NeoBux?

First, I’m always nervous when a site has more admin ads than advertisers ads to click on. So I’m actually happy that these are now limited; even though my earnings have decreased.

Second. I didn’t think I was a big fan of micro ads or mini ads… but the more I think about it, it’s actually really cool. It gives pretty much everyone a chance to play around with advertising with minimal cost, and I’ve noticed a big increase in these types of ads. Less admin ads, more “other than admin ads”. Love it!

Thirdly ( is thirdly even a word? ). Changes to Rental terms. I honestly don’t care. Since I don’t encourage renting referrals or rent referrals myself I didn’t bother reading any of the changes regarding this.

Honestly, I think the Admin is one smart cookie. I don’t always have to agree with him, much like I don’t have to always agree with my boss’s decisions at my real job. At the end of the day however, I’m getting paid and both, my boss’s at work and the admin over at NeoBux are doing what they have to do keep things flowing smoothly and maintaining a sustainable business.

NeoPoints? Okay so I’m going to be a bit hypocritical here. Neopoints are one of the new features at NeoBux. We earn them by doing what we are already doing; clicking our ads. Although the value is yet to be determined, if the option to use these to rent referrals comes up I’ll damn sure be doing just that. If it raises my daily earnings just a few cents ( even if it’s for a brief amount of time ), I’m game. This is a feature I’m excited about.

So is NeoBux turning into a SCAM site? Well gee, lets think for a second. The admin has announced changes and continues to pay on a daily basis. Just because you and or I might not be happy with the changes does not make NeoBux or any site for that matter a scam.

I have a real problem with what peoples perception of the word SCAM means. If the admin of NeoBux or any other site collects money from it’s members or asks it’s members to perform certain actions and has no intention of paying.. then yes, that’s a scam.

    Personally, I’m not excited about the changes AS THEY STAND at the moment. My earnings have dropped in a big way because I’m not golden and I don’t have rented or direct refs. Every direct referral I’ve had there has disappeared…some the same day I got them. I think only one could I attribute to inactivity. Not that there were so many of them, but I quickly got the message to stop advertising if they were just gonna go *poof*, ya know? When I saw other people complaining about the same thing, that just clinched it. That was around late ’08 to early ’09 so I’m sure that’s changed, but once bitten, twice shy….

    That being said, I’m waiting to see what happens. At the rate I’m earning now, it will take the rest of the year to reach a payout. And that is really the only problem I have with the changes right now is the earnings dropped significantly but the minimum cashout did not. Of course, it’s always been part of the sustainability of the site that standards would give up clicking at the higher payout rates and leave that money on the table. Now it’s part of the increased sustainability. Whether or not it works out in his favor….we’ll see. I was seriously toying with the idea of quitting since I only have less than $4 in my account but I decided to wait a bit longer….which will prolly mean I stay no matter what til I get the next cashout, since once I pass the halfway mark, I won’t want to leave it behind.

    I did do the whole upgrade, rent hundreds of refs thing one year…..and I made exactly zero money on that, in fact, I lost. I followed admin’s instructions for managing those refs and made zip. Why? Because when I recycled, I got equally dead refs. When I paid ahead on the good ones, without exception, they either stopped clicking or slowed down to less than 1ยข average, so the recycle costs just kept going up. THEN I had to pay to NOT rent them anymore. It was ridiculous BUT it did teach me that renting refs in general is usually going to be a bad idea. The very few times I’ve succumbed to temptation on other sites have only reinforced that viewpoint. I will also use NeoPoints to rent refs IF I don’t have to pay out of pocket to let them expire. I’m torn about this feature….half excited and half suspicious.

    I found ptc when I was very sick with formaldehyde poisoning and I was having severe thought process, conceptual, memory and neurological problems then. My learning curve was so long it was almost a straight line. After about 8 months out of that environment, the brain fog is starting to clear up and while I’m not 100% yet, I’m WAY better now and I’m so amazed when something *clicks* and what I used to stare out with a total lack of comprehension now suddenly makes sense. That’s what’s exciting for me, is that I’m beginning to be able to learn the things I need to know to make this work after struggling with it for the last 3 years. I never gave up…..I’m too freakin hard headed for that….lol. While I don’t expect NeoBux to be the vehicle that drives my success, it’s been a good learning ground for me.

    I agree with not enough time in the day. BUT! I always read you!
    You’re a darn good read most of the time,

    I like NeoBux. Been on it for a few years now…they’ve actually lasted longer then most of them, so the administration must be doing something right, right?

    @Pamela

    Okay, so first off.. there is no way I’m going to compete with you in the “who can write the longest comment” contest. You really should hook up with Bret ( thebanannarepublican ), the conversation would thankfully never end.

    Second… I’m glad your getting well. I’ve honestly never heard of “formaldehyde poisoning” and I truly am happy that your around to waist a few more brain cells reading and commenting on my blog. Can’t wait to hear more from you when you are 100% ( or 10% for that matter ). I know you have a blog floating around somewhere, please provide a link so I can add it to your comments.

    Ya know, I’ve brought in over 500 NeoBux referrals over the last two and a half years. To this day only 61 remain active. Promoting with my earnings to find just that one or two who will stick around and add a bit more punch to online earnings is how this game works. Not everyone is going to get it, but the important thing is to promote something you believe in first. If you have doubts about NeoBux or whatever, then it’s hard to convince others. Sorta contradicting myself here, since I’ve often had doubts and questions, but stood by the admins ability to run a smooth ship.

    thanks for the comment and sorry I’m replying to you with my eyes half open..yawn.. I’m sure I’ll have many more opportunities to redeem myself.
    Talk soon and always a pleasure hearing from you.

    @Nancy Hodson

    hey thanks Nancy!! I really do appreciate you liking what I do “most of the time”.

    I wrote some legible notes and thoughts in my notebook today that could translate into some decent material for this blog this week.

    Hope you enjoyed your weekend.

    These “bux” sites relying on admin ads are nothing more than extended ponzi schemes, it seems pretty clear that Neobux was no longer going to be able to continue paying as they had been(like all ponzi’s eventually do) The admin simply found a way to pump more air into the bubble allowing the site to survive awhile longer. They may be able to transition to a legitimate PTC if that is their goal, but alot of people are going to lose money in the process.

  6. April 17th, 2011 at 21:22 | #6

    @Jeff

    I can’t argue with you on sites that rely on Admin Ads with little “other than admin” ads. Deep down I’d like to think that the folks who run whatever program they are running have a daily budget and place these ads within that budget. Sadly I know this isn’t the case most of the time. Yeah, I’ve always felt uneasy about admin ads.

    My beef is more with Renting Referrals. I’ll admit, I played around with ‘em a couple years ago and realized that I was just wasting time and money. Especially since I was already pretty decent at bringing in Direct referrals. I never encourage Renting Referrals, and personally would love to see this go away.

    I’m happy that Admin ads were removed for standard members; even though my earnings dropped a bit. I wouldn’t even be all that upset if I no longer had admin ads to click on as an upgraded member.

    I would however like to see more reasonable upgrade options and of course getting rid of rentals all together.

    Like I said in this post. I think the admin is a pretty smart guy. Regardless of the current or past business model I’d like think he’ll make the right decisions for the future.

    Thanks for comment

    Hello Phil,
    I have been a member for some time at your blog and really like all your daily babble.
    Now I have a question as to GBT I am only able to click 3 ads a day and do not know when the other ads reset so I have gone from 10-17 ads a day to just 3 uk uk and I have sent 2 e-mails to admin they said have no control over when ads reset Could you maybe offer some suggestions as to how I can overcome this problem lol
    Thanks

    @Linda Giacomozzi

    Hi Linda and thanks for reading.

    Available ads to click on really depends on a number of factors. Not just for GBT but for most PTC sites.

    Amount of advertisers
    Demographics
    Admin ads

    to name three. Those might be the only three actually.

    Admin Ads – Some sites put up there own ads. These type’s of ads usually make me nervous since the admin has to eventually pay up on these clicks. I’d like to think that the admin of “whatever site” is setting a budget and controlling what they can afford to pay out by providing these types of ads.

    Demographics – It’s true that US members of most sites receive the most ads. It’s nothing personal, just business. I’m sure there are a number of business’s in different countries that really don’t have a use for US traffic. Personally, I target mostly US clickers simply because I know that I’ll make more money off their efforts. Doesn’t mean I don’t target others parts of the world, I do all the time.

    Amount of Advertisers – I actually prefer my ads to come from outside advertisers; not the admin. A site that has a consistent amount of fluctuating ads to click on, usually means that advertisers are getting results ( referrals!! ). There’s a reason why I promote mostly on ClixSense, I get great results ( most of the time ). So I keep promoting there and provide more clicks ($$ ) for the greedy clickers.

    Your available ads to click in any given day on any given site “Should” fluctuate. Some days you might get three, some you might get 30. It really depends on the site and most importantly it should depend on how many advertisers ( Like you and I ) place ads for other members to click on and earn from.

    As far as when the ads reset. Honestly, if your clicking your ads everyday and only getting three then it really doesn’t matter when the ads are reset.. those are your available ads. Checking a couple times a day will often reveal a nugget or three from other advertisers.

    Okay so this reply was probably a bit longer than we both expected and I do hope it helps explain things a bit more. I also hope your promoting you favorite programs and building your downlines.. More clicks from your referrals means more money for you and less frustration when your only receiving three ads a day on average.

    Could you please tell me if getbux2day.com is reliable or a scam compared to getbuxtoday?

  10. May 9th, 2011 at 16:15 | #10

    @sacha

    Not sure …. haven’t seen it and most likely won’t join. I don’t get caught up in all the “bux” sites drama since most of them will vanish before they get started. Either due to inexperienced admin or whatever.

    I can assure you that it is NOT affiliated with Brian Rooney’s GetBuxToday.

    Any thoughts on the addition of paid to click ads via Facebook? 10cents towards the Facebook Deals site for each ad viewed seems like it’ll shake up the PTC market a bit… (http://mashable.com/2011/05/06/facebookfacebook-10-cents-ads/)

  12. May 10th, 2011 at 18:41 | #12

    @Quinlan

    Thanks for this.

    I’m perfectly fine with Facebook offering this type of incentive.

    If it get’s more people viewing an advertisers offers and it gives an incentive as well. Nothing wrong with that; it’s why I pay for advertising.

    Not sure if it’ll shake up the PTC market but it never hurts to add another legitimate source for making money or earning rewards.

    I say bring it on!!

    Yes a shame. Is it because I haven’t been writing much lately or because you disagree with this post?

    I have no problems with your post regarding NeoBux. I just don’t see a point in keeping this site bookmarked when there hasn’t been a post in almost two months.

    I’m just disappointed. I always looked forward to reading your posts.

    @Curt

    Hi Curt

    First off, I’m always flattered when my subscribers get pissed that I’m not writing. I tend to get all warm and fuzzy inside.

    Honestly though.. Just taking a bit of a break while life is at it’s busiest.

    Thank you for keeping me in your bookmarks and checking in often enough to notice I’ve been absent. I say delete my blog from your bookmarks and subscribe instead. That way when I do write again ( it’ll be soon ) you will receive an email notification and you won’t have to constantly check to see if I’ve been creative.

    Thanks again and I hope your doing well.

    Really enjoyed your post. I personally quit neobux when they lowered the payment, I had trouble maintaining my rented referrals without funding my account with more cash. Thanks again for the good read.
