Splash Pages, Poop, and Walking the Walk

October 15th, 2009

My daughter Kalynn

So I'm not a hair stylist

My three year old daughter ( to the left ) Kalynn is pretty funny. She finds the simplest things enjoyable. Like helping me empty the dishwasher, putting laundry away ( although she sucks at folding cloths ), and basically following me around most of the day. Doing chores with daddy ( Me ) to her, is as much fun as making a mess. I think she just see’s it as spending time together. Throw in some reading and a bit of “Clifford” and our day goes by pretty fast. These daily interactions not only provide quality time between my daughter and I, but also helps her grow and learn. Now if she can just learn to fold cloths.

This is why I strive to be successful online! I enjoy hanging with my kids, watching them grow and being witness to such things as the first poop in the potty ( anyone want a picture? :) ). To non parents, poop and potty training is just plain gross, but all you parents out there know damn well that these events are reasons to celebrate! Fruit Snacks for Everyone!

Moving on to today’s post.

In my last post I gave a video tutorial on how to “Make and Use Simple Splash Pages“. My goal was to introduce you to splash pages and traffic exchanges. Show you some simple examples and give you another resource. Although I received quite a few awesome emails, Big E at Work at Home No Scams ( sort of my mentor ) was quick to not only praise me, but also tell me that I FAILED at the same time.

Where did I fail? Well, I didn’t take the time to test and show results. When putting the last post together, my goal, like I said, was to introduce you to Splash Page Maker and not necessarily show results. Since Eddy called me on this. I felt obligated to not only talk the talk but also walk the walk ( err do some testing on my own ).

I’ve made it very clear that I’m an advocate for traffic exchanges, especially Traffic Splash, but out of my 174 Traffic Splash referrals, only about ten have upgraded and / or are active. This kind of bugs me, and tells me that simply posting affiliate links and recommending a program does not do much for the people who I bring in. Whether it’s Traffic Splash, Splash Page Maker
, ClixSense, or whatever. It basically means that I’ve spent a lot of time ( and $$ ) for little or nothing. Seriously, what good is a referral if they are just a number I can brag about?

So for the last two weeks I’ve devoted all my Traffic Splash time and ClixSense promotions to testing splash pages for results. I used the final Splash Page I made in the last post and made a couple others as well. I also threw the normal ClixSense affiliate page in the mix. Once again, “walking the walk”. If I’m going to tell you that Splash Pages work better than normal Affiliate pages, I needed to be fair and treat all promotional pages equally. So that’s what I did. Although, the results were not over whelming, they are honest and pretty much accurate.

So in this video I’m going to show you not only my results, but also the new pages I created and used. Then for all you “non-html” wizards, the second video will show you how to take the basic page we created in the last post and beef it up even further using an HTML Editor.

In Video Two we are going to use Online-HTML-Editor.Org to enhance our splash page that we made in the last post. This is really great for those who are not familiar with basic and intermediate HTML.

So there ya go! I’m going to do some testing on the two pages in the first video and the one that get’s the better results ( hopefully sign ups ), will get it’s very own twenty page spot ( or 6000 views for another two weeks on Traffic Splash ).

Have a great day everyone and don’t forget to…

How to Create and Use Simple Splash Pages

September 21st, 2009

splash page maker box Today I wanted to show you how to take any program or website your trying to promote or earn hits for and make your own custom splash page using Splash Page Maker. I’ve included five tutorial videos showing how easy it is to create and use splash pages.

At the bottom of this post I’m going to share a few of my favorite Traffic Exchanges for you to use to promote not only the new splash page we are going to make, but also your other affiliate links if you choose.

What is a Splash Page? A Splash Page is a brief to the point web page that fits within the average computer users screen. It usually has a strong statement and a brief description or details that grabs someones attention and encourages them to follow through by clicking the “Call to Action” link on the page.

The examples I’m going to show you are very very basic and of course you can make far better pages. My goal was to show you a few simple steps and get you started. I also want to stress that your NOT locked into using the same old affiliate links that everyone else is using to promote a particular program. Creativity is encouraged and you can even use a personal picture of yourself ( highly encouraged ) to brand yourself to a particular program.

Now, you do not have to use Splash Page Maker to just make Splash Pages. Your more than welcome to create your own sales pages ( capture pages ) or newsletters. Really, whatever you want.

One of the reasons I really enjoy Splash Page Maker is that I can make subtle or dramatic changes to my work and I don’t have to go back and delete my links that I have floating around the internet. The changes are live so correcting mistakes or changing things around is simple and painless.

Enjoy the videos. I really hope you find them useful and informative. I have more tutorials on splash pages in the works so make sure you subscribe to this blog so you don’t miss a post.

Video One. Is an introduction into splash pages and I get to show off some of the ones I put together and use. Only said “ummm” 100 times, that’s an improvement :)

Video Two. Shows a very basic demonstration of how to create a splash page. In this example we are going to create a page for ClixSense.
The examples shown in this tutorial are just that, examples. The pages made have not been tested for results.

Video Three. We are going to use the basic page we made in Video one and replace the call to action with a custom button that I made using Instant Banner Creator.

Video Four. Will show you how to easily add a video into your splash page.

Video Five. Shows how to use Traffic Splash to drive traffic to your Splash page or Affiliate programs.

Using Traffic Exchanges to promote your Splash Pages ( or Affiliate Links ):

I’ve used Traffic Exchanges for about nine months now. Just long enough to get me completely addicted. I’ve built my subscriber list for this blog mostly through traffic exchanges ( T.E.s ), I’ve promoted them individually and earned affiliate commissions, I’ve won cash prizes while surfing ( see my post “Big Traffic Splash Day….” and “….thanks Paul!!” ), and of course I’ve racked up thousands and thousands of hits for various affiliate programs. Were all ad campaigns successful? Absolutely not. Some did well, some sucked big time, but I’ve learned not to give up and keep trying new techniques, which is what this post is all about.

Just in case you didn’t watch Video 5.

What is a Traffic Exchange? A traffic exchange is simply a program that allows you to share your affiliate links, programs, splash pages, opportunities, websites and such with other traffic exchange users in exchange for viewing theirs. You earn credits to show your pages ( offers ) by viewing other members websites. All T.E.s require you to view another members website for a predetermined amount of time. After viewing a page, you simply verify that you are a real person by selecting a matching image, number or even something that just says “Click Here”.

Do Traffic Exchanges Work? Absolutely!!! They work on so many levels if you give them a chance. I can promise you that surfing a hundred pages and then giving up will probably not produce any results, keeping your pages ( affiliate programs, etc ) in rotation will.

Out of the hundreds of traffic exchanges out now, I use around twenty. Do I surf all twenty every day? No!! I couldn’t possible manage to surf twenty T.E.s a day. Getting a couple hours a day in is all I can handle. So I mainly concentrate on five or six exchanges everyday. The other exchanges I’m a member of get about a half hour of my time each, every month. I’m not saying they are not worthy of more of my time, I’m just being realistic and perhaps a bit biased. You can obviously choose your favorites and surf as much or little as you’d like.

I’ve made it very clear throughout this blog that Traffic Splash is my favorite exchange for many reasons; traffic, affiliate commissions, awesome admin, daily contests and rewards.. etc, etc…

Royal Surf would have to be my second favorite, followed by Blue Surf, Traffic Witch ( read more about The Elite Surf Club )and Start Exchange. All Exchanges are Free to join and upgrade options are available for more benefits.

To wrap up this rather long post, I wish everyone much success with your marketing and money making endeavors. Keep in mind that there are going to be many frustrating days. There will also be many rewarding days where we can do no wrong. We just gotta keep trying and working with the tools and resources that are available to us today. Like Splash Page Maker =P.

Have a Great Day Everyone. Thank you so much for reading what I write and I hope you got some use out of my little tutorial today. Although, I just watched them for the third time and I cringe at all the “Um’s” and “ugh’s”. Too funny.

Traffic Splash. Some Interesting Referral Stat’s

March 2nd, 2009

Drum roll please…………Da, Da, Da, Da.. Downline!

So I just took a few minutes to go over some of my Referral stats this month for Traffic Splash, and I must say. I’m pretty shocked. I had a lot of ads spread around and I really wasn’t paying attention to who came from what or where. Until today.

Total Refs this month: 90
Total Commission Earned $70.00.

Not bad you say, but consider I’ve put in a lot of time and $$ into promoting TSplash ( amongst everything else ). I’m quite a ways away from profit, but since I’ve only just finished my first month of my Year long Pro membership, I’m really not all that worried. A few of my refs are buying additional advertising and I’ve already seen three upgrades. Plus, the added bonus of having active refs that are earning me additional credits for my own promotional needs. Yeah, I’m pretty jazzed about that as well.

Okay, I’ll shut up now.. here are the numbers.

Where My Traffic Splash Referrals came From:

WordLinx – 25 Referrals. From buying additional advertising ( visitors ) and converting my earnings into ad credits ( once again, visitors ).

ClixSense – 11 Referrals. Not bad, but I’ve had better results promoting Paid to Click / Read programs.

Traffic Splash ( for being a PRO member ) – 20 Referrals!!! Wow, this really blew me away. I know that when you have an upgraded account in most programs, they say you’ll get FREE Refs, but 20 in one month?! Not sure if this is normal or not but, Thanks Paul.

Rent-a-List ( Hits4Pay ) -15 referrals. I’m very sad about this number. My recent ad on RaL for NeoBux pulled 115 referrals, and my ad for ClixSense had an unheard of 10% return at 250 referrals. So yeah, I was really hoping for better results. Oh well, don’t blame the Ad, blame the Ad writer ( me ) right?. Still.. pttttt

Other – 12 Referrals. Mostly from my links being seen on other Traffic Exchanges and a few other places where I’ve converted my earnings to ad credits. Plus a few small ads I’ve purchased. I’m actually pretty happy, no complaints here…whatever phil.. you know you wanted 1000 referrals

This Blog ( of course ) – 5 Referrals. Awesome, thanks guys!! You were paying attention.

So anyways. That’s were I’m at after one month with Traffic Splash. I think this month will be better. I just have to learn to work smarter and NOT harder.

See ya guys,
Phil
