Almost Smoking ( sneak peek )

April 21st, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

A few of you know that I’ve been working on a new website. I’ve only shared it with a couple people, and although I’m still working on it, I thought I’d give you guys a sneak peek.

Almost Smoking . Com

I’m really taking my time with it and have a few posts partially written. I decided I really don’t like the rotating picture of myself ( I’m much sexier in real life ), but I decided to keep it up for now because I really don’t feel that smoking should be glorified. So I’ll go for the tired unattractive look that shows the functionality of the product.

So yeah, a little known secret and something I’m ashamed of, is that I’m a smoker. Growing up in the ’80s, everyone smoked. Even my high school had a smoking section. You could smoke in most bars and restaurants, and cigarettes cost only $1 a pack.

I started smoking when I was twelve and I remember my mom teaching me how to inhale while sitting in a pizza hut one day ( thanks mom ). There were very few times in my life where I wasn’t around cigarette smoke… even before I was born. I quite for four months three years ago and felt amazing. A couple years before that I became a private smoker. I was very much into living a body building lifestyle and worked out six days a week. When your a solid 210 lbs, most people won’t say anything to you, but when they see you smoking, look out. The shit hits the fan and people become quite brave when expressing there disgust. “oh my god! Your such a hypocrite!” One of the reasons I never became a personal trainer.

Anyways… I knew I wanted to create a website / blog focused on electronic cigarettes and smoking alternatives. I just didn’t want to pimp a product that I didn’t have personal experience with, just to make a commission. I also need to quite smoking. So I started purchasing from different companies that had affiliate programs. I’ve also purchased parts and accessories from companies without affiliate programs. So to be fair, I’ll be writing about them as well.

The only company on Almost Smoking.Com that I haven’t ordered from yet is Green Smoke. I decided to prematurely add a banner because I haven’t heard anything really bad about the company, plus they have a killer affiliate program. So I’ll look forward to purchasing and reviewing the Green Smoke product soon.

Like I said above, this is a sneak peek for you guys. I have a lot of work to do, but I couldn’t hold off any longer and just had to share. I won’t be promoting Almost Smoking just yet, still have a few more things I want to add. Then it’ll be all about reviews, me being me, and maintaining an honest and profitable site. I’m fighting the urge to have sponsored advertising or at least sell ad space, so it’s possible that you could see something in the sidebar that says “put your ad here”. Just not anytime soon.

Big Love to Eddy for all the help, support and continued mentoring. “hell to the nah” buddy, “hell to the nah”

    Wow Phil, didn’t know you were a dirty smoker :) Just kidding. Me too, I use the blu cig though. If I could afford to try all the different brands, I would be all over it. But, I like what I’ve got, I used it for almost 5 days straight while visiting non smoking relatives and it helped so much. I love the concept and good luck with your new site :)

    Applaud you brother for putting it out there that you’re working on this project and your battle with smoking. It just continues to show you’re a real dude that has flaws like the rest of us. I admire you for it. But more importantly I’m happy that you’re now on a path to a healthier lifestyle so we all have big Phil for many more years to come!

    @Virginia

    Thanks Virginia!

    I’d love to have you contribute to Almost Smoking . Com. Could you write a non biased, honest review about Blu Cig. I’d love something honest and fun and of course I’ll throw a link in for you as well.

    Thanks for reminding me that I still need to reply to your last comment.

    Another point Phil. Why didn’t you include the price of the starter kit in your post? I think this is relevant information that your readers would like to know without having to go look at each individual site. As a consumer, when I am looking for information on products if I can’t find what I’m looking for all in one spot (price included) I no longer use that website as a source of information. That’s just me. I don’t like to have to check more than one spot :) I’m a lazy consumer. Working on that review for you, might take me another day or two.

    @Virignia

    Good Point Virignia! Although, one of the things I’ve struggled with is to “not” be so much of a salesman, but rather a real person. It’s a tough balance between solicitation and sincerity. Besides right above the post is an altsmoke banner that tells us how much a “starter kit” is. Still, couldn’t have hurt to make a comparison between the Totally Wicked PCC Starter Kit and the Titan Starter kit. I’ll make a point to put that in my next AS post ( god I’m so behind!!! ).

    Thanks for the extra post this week. Looking forward to your product review. Based on your emails and comments I have a feeling that I won’t have to do much editing.

    ***update*** purchase price added =)

    Hey Phil, I don’t know how I even happened to find your blog. I was looking around the Net like usual and I recognized your face from months ago. Thought I’d see what you’re up to. Great that you’ve admitted that you smoke (you’re not a closet smoker anymore…yay!) Me too! but there are still those in my family that hate the stinky things. I have to go outside so the windows don’t turn brown and I was tired of chewing gum and brushing my teeth 24/7. So I got an e-cig. Guess what kind? A Greensmoke. I bought it and then later I got a car charger and then some varying flavors over the last few months. I’m sold…it’s that good.

    @Carole

    Hey Carole! Thanks for the comment and sorry for not replying sooner.

    Hey Cool, I love when people remember me from months ago, proves that the power of branding really works.

    I still haven’t tried Green Smoke. I’m a bit biased towards my 510 model ( yeti, titan, joye ). In the meantime, would you be interested in writing a Green Smoke Review? Something fun, unbiased and based on experience. Of course I’ll throw your GS links in for you.

    Thanks again for the comment.
